Product Improvement Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

This position requires an Electrical Engineer to review existing designs in order to implement improvements in the design and manufacture of our products. This position will work directly with our suppliers as well as with engineers and field personnel. The Product Improvement engineer will perform electrical and mechanical failure analysis. This engineer will troubleshoot products returned from the field and will facilitate design transfer to suppliers, service providers, and contract manufacturers. This engineer will suggest design improvements and perform design verification testing of those design improvements for an implantable medical device system.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Performing failure analysis of field returned product (require electrical, firmware, and mechanical expertise)
  • Data and trend analysis of product failures
  • Documenting design improvements with drawings, bill of materials, etc.
  • Creating, interpreting, and designing to product requirements, design specifications, and industry standards
  • Performing design verification testing
  • Writing test plans and reports
  • Operating common electrical and mechanical test equipment


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

This position requires medical device development experience in addition to:

  • Minimum of BSEE and 5 years Medical Device R&D experience
  • Experience working with products consisting of integrated mechanical, electronic and firmware components is essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Data analysis experience using Excel, Access and MiniTab (or similar statistical analysis software)
  • Familiarity with medical device return and complaint processes
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
  • Ability to provide work direction to technicians and contractors


The following skills are desired, but not required:

  • Active implantable device experience
  • Finite Element Analysis
  • LabView test system development
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Experience with solid modeling and print creation using SolidWorks
  • Experience with manufacturing processes including assembly, injection molding and PCA manufacturing.
  • Reliability engineering experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Job will require mostly working at a desk using a computer, keyboard, and mouse and at a lab work bench using hand tools and operating test equipment.

Some occasional minor lifting (20 lbs or less) when setting up test equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Some travel required to off site test facilities, manufacturing facilities, vendors, etc.

Sr. Embedded Systems Engineer – Remote Monitoring

Our client is the largest European cardiovascular medical device company with a global R&D, manufacturing and marketing organization. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sr. Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design, development, testing, and documentation of real time embedded hardware and software for a cardiac device remote monitoring system. This position involves working on a class II/III medical device under FDA regulations and entails rigorous process discipline and documentation to assure functionality, safety, reliability and quality of the product. The position will provide both individual contributions and overall technical leadership of remote monitoring device development utilizing external engineering development resources, which will require technical, interpersonal, and leadership competencies.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall technical leadership of remote monitoring device development utilizing internal and external engineering resources.
  • Participation in requirements creation/management and analyses.
  • Embedded analog and digital hardware design, prototyping, development, testing and integration including RF telemetry and GPRS cellular communications.
  • Embedded software design, prototyping, development, testing and integration on an embedded Linux operating system.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting embedded system using a variety of tools such as scopes, emulators, logic analyzers etc.
  • Unit & integration test creation, execution and report generation
  • Satisfy UL and IEC 60601 electrical safety and EMC, resulting in CE Mark certification.
  • Supporting version control, issue tracking tools and other formal development processes per regulated medical industry standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 8 years experience designing and developing real-time embedded systems.
  • Embedded C /C++ programming skills.
  • Embedded analog and digital hardware development skills including RF telemetry and GSM/GPRS cellular communications. 
  • Experience working in formal development processes preferably the medical device industry.
  • A working understanding of FDA QSR, ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 principles.
  • A working understanding of UL or IEC 60601 electrical safety and EMC. standards.
  • Experience transitioning products from R&D to product manufacturing.
  • Supporting formal verification test teams.
  • Strong documentation skills.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 12+ Years of Experience designing and developing real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience working with external engineering development teams and resources
  • Significant experience working in the medical industry under FDA QSR, ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 principles.
  • Significant experience in requirements management, architectural design development and risk/hazard analysis.
  • Significant experience with UL, IEC 60601 electrical safety and EMC certification.
  • Significant experience with RF telemetry and GSM/GPRS cellular communications.
  • Significant experience with embedded application development on Linux OS.
  • Significant experience in complete life cycle of product development in a team environment.

Technical Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Technical Analyst position requires a person skilled in database and system design for business applications in a Web based environment. If you can understand the business requirements and translate those to written functional specifications for our Java and PL/SQL development team, you have a good start. QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires someone with a strong understanding of the technologies involved in launching our programs in an Oracle database and a Java J2ee web environment. Your testing skills will certainly be needed in writing test plans for your applications and helping the team execute that plan. You will need to have solid communications skills in dealing with technical as well as non-technical people every day.

Your knowledge of SQL and BEA Web Logic would be a great benefit in learning the current systems that you will support. Your ability to work in a team environment will be of utmost importance in dealing with the day to day challenges of our service industry. Senior Operations Systems Analyst

This role will be instrumental in identifying, documenting, and communicating requirements and operational documents for data file transfers, systems monitoring and management, ITIL processes such as incident, problem, and change controls between our client and third party organizations, and disaster recovery processes. Assist with meeting minutes and follow up on action items.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced in requirement gathering processes, process modeling, Use Cases, Detailed Process Flow Diagrams, Interface Requirements Specifications, and identifying and documenting non-functional requirements.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of management.

Indirect Assistant Buyer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ensure daily administrative sourcing needs are met for headquarters. Fulfill purchasing responsibilities in accordance to sourcing policies and procedures. Review and process purchase orders for indirect materials, utilizing established procedures and computer systems. EBP/SAP experiences required. Collaborate with other sourcing staff and internal customers to ensure sourcing needs are met, and internal requests and problem resolution are addressed in a timely manner. Monitor the status of purchase orders.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Three plus years of indirect purchasing. Must be customer focused with excellent interpersonal and relationship skills. Must be willing to participate and contribute within a teamwork atmosphere. Excellent computer skills desired.
